WPC Ecosystems

The WPC is creating and maintaining multiple specifications, which are grouped into two ecosystems. An ecosystem defines products that are compatible, or in the case of the Ki Cordless Kitchen or LEV specifications, have high commonality in their architecture.

  1. The Qi ecosystem which includes the Qi Wireless Charging Standard
  2. The Household and Industry ecosystem, which includes specifications for the following standards:

Regular members are required to participate in at least one ecosystem, though they are welcome to participate in all ecosystems. The annual Ecosystem Fee is $10,000 per ecosystem. The Regular member fees (as found in the WPC Pricing Information document) assume participation in one ecosystem. Each additional ecosystem will increase the membership fee by $10,000 per year.

Adopter members do not pay an Ecosystem Fee as they are not entitled to the same ecosystem participation granted to Regular members. Adopter members can participate in General Meetings, which may include ecosystem specific discussions, can participate on a limited basis in ecosystem meetings by invitation, and may vote on final ecosystem specifications. Adopter membership does not include access to specification development meetings.
