While countries around the world may find relationships strained and agreements hard to come by, the world’s consumer electronics firms recognize the importance of working together to create global standards and one standard that everyone can agree on is Qi, the global standard for wireless power. The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) remains steadfastly committed to ensuring that the Qi standard meets industry and consumer expectations for safety, interoperability, scalability, and global applicability. 

As evidence of that commitment, on behalf of the WPC, Xiaomi hosted WPC’s Qi Off-Cycle Meeting June 22-25, 2026, at Xiaomi Technology Park in Beijing. The meeting was particularly noteworthy as it marked the first time that a WPC Qi technical meeting was held in China. More than 90 engineers and technical experts from around the world attended the meeting, representing over 20 leading technology companies, including Apple, Huawei, OPPO, vivo, Google, and HONOR. Working within a common testing environment, participants evaluated technical details and interoperability results related to the proposed Qi2 50W standard, conducted detailed reviews of specification proposals, and validated implementations using prototype devices. The meeting was an important technical conference in the evolution of the Qi standard towards higher power and stronger compatibility.
