Mariott and Kube Systems power up the guest charging experience with Qi

Key benefits:

  • Widespread adoption of Qi devices assures success
  • Open-source Qi standard makes it easy for developers
  • Qi wireless charging delivers customer convenience

When Dave Weinstein of Kube Systems wanted to develop a wireless charging solution for the hospitality industry, the Wireless Power Consortium’s Qi standard was the clear choice.

“The number of Qi capable devices is the broadest in the wireless charging industry, and our solution needed to support the largest number of mobile devices,” he said, adding that the open-source nature of the Qi standard was another important factor.

Kube Systems currently offers two wireless charging devices – the Kube Systems Portable charger, and the Kube Systems Clock, an alarm clock with a built-in charging station.

Kube Systems Qi chargers have already been deployed in the lobbies of 29 Marriott hotels, offering guests who have Qi-enable devices a stay that doesn’t include messy charging cables.

Weinstein said customers have been impressed with Qi and regard it as a leadership technology.

“We’ve received a lot of great attention about Qi wireless charging,” he said. “Even though our product includes wired charging capability, it’s the Qi feature that has had our customers raving.”
